K-12 Programs

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion builds undergraduate interest in medicine and supports pipeline programs for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Reach Out to Youth was founded by two Wayne State University medical students in 1991.The annual program brings Detroit students ages 7 to 11 to the School of Medicine to learn about basic health care and nutrition, spark interest in science and medicine, boost self-esteem and explore careers in the medicine and science. Medical students and faculty members volunteer as guides, workshop leaders and presenters.

C² Pipeline is a 21st Century Community Learning Center-funded program through the Michigan Department of Education. The program provides an opportunity for students to explore careers in health care. For additional information, contact c2pipeline@wayne.edu.
